And in other policing news...

With the establishment of the Firearms and Ammunition License Control Board in 2023, magistrate Mannon Dennison was appointed to that board.

But, what happens when gun matters come before him on the bench? Must he recuse himself because he is a member of that board? Observers say he must. We asked the minister of home affairs for a comment today:

Jo
"It has been suggested that the magistrate who you appointed on the gun license board cannot hear any gun matters going forward due to a possible conflict of interest Your response."

Kareem Musa, Area Representative, Caribbean Shores
"That would make sense there are many other matters aside from gun matters that traverse the magistrate's court and so I'm sure that there are a lot of other issues he can deal with. As a matter of fact even though he was a former police officer who went to study and then become an attorney and then a magistrate I think he was dealing with mostly civil matters if I recall correctly in my time of practice and so I'm not surprised by that decision and it only makes sense."
