And we also told you that crown counsel Riis Cattouse wrote to the department accusing them of constantly violating the human rights of detainees, especially with extended detentions. The Minister said that he believed the accusations of the letter were "misplaced."

"I believe that's a very regrettable and unfortunate statement. I believe Riis Cattouse was doing so perhaps as a concerned citizen of Belize, but also in the capacity as a friend, I believe, of Mr. Wilson. But at the same time, we have to understand that as a member of the prosecution branch in this country, you could potentially one day have to prosecute Mr. Wilson."
