And while he hopes Miss Universe will take on the world and win….in the next few days, the Belize Territorial Volunteers may be pitted against the Guatemalan military. They will make one of their large expeditions up the river on April 27th - and there could be a showdown - because - according to reports - right now the Guatemalan military "deh on!"
We asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs his ministry will advise the volunteers to exercise caution:

"We are always of course, monitoring that situation and we are aware of the activities taking place on the Sarstoon. so we are always concerned about that and you know we do our very best to ensure that we engage with any of our citizens who are going out there to try to guide them and to try to ensure that they are safe. We fully understand that we are in Belizean territory we respect that but our objective as we move through this process of peacefully resolving, this unfounded claim at the ICJ as we move through that process. There are obviously still things that need to be worked out on the ground and out at the Sarstoon we have been calling a long time for a sort of protocol to guide the activities of both countries on the Sarstoon that has not materialized, and so we have a good working relationship with military their military generally that serves our purpose and so again, we will advise our friends at the territorial volunteers. You know to exercise, good discretion, good judgment, and be safe and of course, we are here to support them."
