Tonight the joint unions are calling out the government of Belize after it allegedly postponed the signing-off Ceremony of a long-standing Collective Bargaining Agreement, quote, "at the eleventh hour." A press release says The CBA, which has been the subject of extensive negotiations over the past several months "addresses key issues such as wage adjustments, working conditions and benefits for thousands of public sector employees."
The release says that "It was not until late yesterday afternoon…that an email was sent to the Joint Union Team, postponing the event, without any explanation or the courtesy of a newly proposed sign off date."
The joint unions, quote, "finds this action of the Government Side both dismissive and disrespectful….The JUNT (is) requesting that the Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Cordel Hyde, lead negotiator for the Government team, provide us with a new sign off date, no later than Monday, June 10th." End quote.
