The Briceno administration still has not taken a formal position on the contested Venezuelan presidential election of July 28th.

And Belize continues to abstain on OAS resolutions that it calls fraudulent.

Fonseca justified the abstention:

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Culture

"Yeah well one resolution was tabled a few weeks ago and there is this discussion about another resolution being tabled sometime this week. You know Belize's position has consistently been to abstain on these resolutions. Then Venezuela is not a member of the OAS there with Drew from the OAS in 2019 so the view of CARICOM and we generally try to support a CARICOM position on these matters the view of CARICOM is that the OAS really does not have jurisdiction over Venezuela. So we abstain on these matters. There is no consensus in CARICOM on this matter, a few countries are supporting these resolutions. The great majority of countries I think the last time around three countries supported and I think eight countries abstained and one or two countries did not participate at all in the votes. They did not show up so I think that's where we are, but I can tell you I can report you, we discuss the matter in cabinet and the cabinet's position that Belize should abstain on any proposed resolution this week. That is tabled this week in the OAS."
