So where was Zabaneh yesterday? Since he also doubles as the Minister of indigenous constitution he told us he had other pressing matters to attend further down south. He explained what those matters were.

Louis Zabaneh, Minister of Indigenous Constitution:
"Im sure that has to be taken into consideration of course I don't think it in any way hindered the opponents if you will of the 13th amendment I think they had a very strong showing and were very clear in how they feel about the 13th amendment there were proponents as well, I was unable to attend because at the same time I was in Punta Gorda as you know we are dealing with the issue of indigenous affairs, issues with the consent order with the Maya land rights case and we met for the first time under my term that just started as minister responsible for indigenous affairs with the the so called third parties who are land owners within the Maya boundaries of their villages and so w were able to sit with them and listen carefully to them and what was very important was to have the temperature brought down to normal because you know there was a lot of tension and so that we could foster an environment of communication and of dialogue and I think we were able to achieve that I think that was a big break through so that we could then move towards the satisfaction of the requirements of the CCJ and try to do that in a timely way."
Following the consultations, the House Committee responsible for the amendment will be discussing the concerns and recommendations before a decision is made.
