Tonight, Justice Tawanda Hondora is under scrutiny - after the Court of Appeal lifted a gag order it had placed on Jerry Enriquez. You may recall that Enriquez had gone to the court in late February to try and block what he maintains was an illegal general election with a malapportioned voters list.
Well, in the course of that case, his Trinidadian attorney, Anand Ramlogan accused the presiding judge Tawanda Hondora of judicial misconduct and bias. He did so in open court.
Ramlogan then made a formal application to the court and the Judicial and Legal Services Commission alleging judicial bias - but since then things went quiet. Tonight, we know why. Justice Hondora had Enriquez and Ramlogan under a gag order. It has been lifted and Jules Vasquez looks at what's behind it:
The Court of Appeal will now hear the application to expedite the appeals.
As for the bias application, that has to be heard first by a judge of the High Court.
