On the news tonight you've heard a lot of complaining from the opposition about a lack of government transparency. Their main issue is with a Cabinet release from yesterday - but Cabinet confidentiality is a standard practice for all PUDP governments.
Today, Panton hinted that she would change that. Now, we don't usually put much stock in what politicians promise - but it's important to get it on record:
Tracy Panton, Leader of the Opposition
"You know, cabinet swears on its oath of confidentiality. It's the meeting of cabinet, and the matters before cabinet are confidential and therefore cannot be disclosed. Jules, I want you to hold me to this. When I become the next prime minister of this country, I would work to a more open government because the cabinet business, the cabinet business is the people's business."
