And while Mira will have to wrestle with the zones, Musa has plenty to tackle at Immigration. He spoke to us about his plans for the Ministry of Immigration.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Immigration, Labor, & Governance
"I intend to work very closely with our international partners, to ensure the integrity of our systems, while at the same time streamlining processes for our Belizean people and those who are qualified to get their residency or passports to make it a lot more user friendly, easier to access, than currently is. And so there's a lot of hard work ahead. Like I said, the previous ministers of immigration have done a lot of the heavy lifting. We will look now to modernize and digitize a lot of these processes, not just at the Ministry of Immigration, but also at the Ministry of Labor."
"And so that is what we have to look forward to. Better service to the Belizean people, while at the same time keeping any sort of corruption at bay."
We'll have a little more from the house meeting later on in the news.
