And in other news...

You might have done a double take this morning when you saw rows of orange guayaberas on the government side of the National Assembly. And while many were confused - and asking whether GOB was cosplaying as "Tango 10" prisoners at Kolbe - the Minister of Human Development rose to explain that it was about standing in solidarity as the world observes 16 days of activism against gender based violence.

Thea Garcia Ramirez, Minister of Human Development
"These 16 days serve as a global call to action reminding nations and leaders everywhere that gender based violence is not only a crime but a fundamental violation of human rights that demand urgent coordinated response. The color orange which we proudly wear today symbolizes hope for a bright future free from violence, discrimination and fear. It is also a commitment from each of us that we strongly condemn all forms of gender based violence and will not remain silent. All members on this side of the chambers today are wearing orange as a unified expression of solidarity and as a public reaffirmation of the government of Belize's zero tolerance towards gender based violence."
