In February the Occupational Safety and Health bill was passed in the House and earlier this month it went to the Senate. However, it was stalled in the committee of the whole, where it remains. Many senators had concerns and proposed amendments; consequently, meetings were scheduled for consultations. But, the next meeting which was scheduled for Thursday, has been cancelled. That meeting would have been with the Ministry of Labor. But in an email from the Clerk to the Senators, it says, quote, "The team at the Ministry of Labour has informed that they are currently not in a position to engage in discussions, or to respond to queries, or to address proposed amendments during the meeting that their role would have been limited basically to noting the comments and observations raised by Senators." End quote.

The Clerk is asking that they submit written comments, queries, proposed amendments, and concerns to the clerk by Friday, May 22nd. These will then be forwarded to the CEO in the ministry for review.
