And while Santino and Ray Cattouse say there won’t be drug testing, surprise, surprise, the President Gerald Garbutt says there will be. He explained it to Keith Swift this evening.
Keith Swift,
Will there be drug testing on Saturday, the team managers told me there won’t be?
Gerald Garbutt, Cycling Association President
“I am glad they feel that way. They will get a surprise. We are looking into it very seriously and everything is pointing towards that, that yes we will have drug testing.”
Keith Swift,
The understanding we got is that there wasn’t going to be because of the cost involved.
Gerald Garbutt,
“We do that to let them see, we want to see if they will be trying to seek in anything on us but that will be on.”
Keith Swift,
What should the public know about coming to watch the race on Saturday? Where will they be able to go?
Gerald Garbutt,
“What we do is we have the complete Memorial Park that the public can use to utilize to see the race. Beside that, on the sea wall we will have some tents and chairs and that thing for invited guests.”
At news time 116 riders had signed up, but more late entrants are expected to register before the race leaves on Saturday morning at 6:00. It will be all over about 5 and half hours later at the Memorial Park and there will be no entrance fee for those who go to Memorial Park to see the finish.
