For weeks we've been reporting that Belize's student athletes were was facing a ban from the CODICADER games. Well, tonight, there's good news: there will be no ban.

A late evening press release from the National Sports council says, quote, "Belize will be participating in the upcoming CODICADER Under 15 Games...in Honduras from August 20-26, 2017. The President of CODICADER....today sent an official invitation to Belize to participate in these upcoming games."

It continues, quote, "Belize had contacted the...President to request consideration for Belizean children to continue to participate in the...Games, even though Belize is unable to host the Disability Games.

The National Sports Council and the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture remain in communication with CODICADER to work out a solution..."

It's the best news for Belize's athletes after the Minister of Sports confirmed two weeks ago that Belize could be facing a two year ban for not hosting the disability Games. Now, there's no ban, but Belize does have some making up to do. We'll have more tomorrow.
