Yesterday we told you that athletes across the country were preparing to put on their jerseys and protest inside casinos to send a message to the government. But they quickly realized that their message was being misconstrued - their fight is not with the casinos. Rather, they just want to be given the same level of consideration.
So instead, athletes from various sporting disciplines held a press conference. Yesterday, you heard from national volleyball athlete, Bryton Codd, and today he headed the conference. He started with a list of regulations that the volleyball association has submitted more than once to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sports that would allow for safe training.
His fellow athletes then made their own statements on how this ban on sports has affected their disciplines.
While the end goal would be to hold competitions again, Codd stated that for now, they are only asking to be able to train - and each discipline has measures they would take to limit the contact between players.
They are not opposed to some form of protest, though, and said that they are expecting favorable answers from the government before the end of next week. If it's not forthcoming, then they plan to protest.
