He's been making a big splash in regional volleyball tournaments, and now, Bryton Codd, a promising athlete, is about to become the first Belizean to go pro in a European Volleyball League.
The 26-year-old has entered a 2-year contract to play professional volleyball for a team from Rovaniemi, Finland that is known as Perpo.
You've seen Codd celebrating with other Belizeans who've recently received volleyball scholarships to play in the US. So, it was only fitting that the Belize Volleyball Association celebrated the good news with him. They did so by hosting a ceremonial signing of his scholarship contract at the Mexico Sports Center this morning.
The press was invited, and 7News stopped by to talk to Codd about this major opportunity:
Codd notes that his head coach, who is one of the few Central Americans who have also had an opportunity to go Pro in Europe, played a key role in helping him to secure this deal. He asserts that this opportunity will allow him to secure another contract to continue his athletic career.
