La Ruta Maya is 3 days away and teams are getting their final leg of training in. Today we met with members of arguably the first family of canoe-ing, the Cruz Family who will be paddling as the Ranza River Cruzers.

This year, due to weak sponsorship, they were initially unsure if they would be able to participate despite being on the water for more than two decades.

But with the help of The Nature Conservancy and The San Ignacio Hotel, they are entering a mixed team. Jaleeza Roberts met them on the banks of the Belize River:
