NEMO has also been preparing for the hurricane season - and after last year's intense flooding in the west, they're getting ahead of possible hurricanes by digging drains and getting shelters in order. And the National Emergency Coordinator, Colonel Shelton Defour, is hoping not to have a repeat of last year where villagers were forced to climb onto their roofs to keep safe. He is advising Belizeans ahead of time to keep on the watch.
And NEMO has learnt from last year's active season and have better prepared themselves with various trainings and workshops to strengthen their response to emergencies.
