And there's a lot to respond to. From what we have seen Lisa did way more structural damage than Hurricanes Richard in 2010 or Earl in 2016 which were the last storms to have a major effect on the country's largest population center.
Jules Vasquez looked with a wistful eye at some of the damage:
Like a solitary hand reaching up through the rubble - today was the day Belize's had to clean up and fix whatever was broken by Lisa - from an entire roof toppled off its stilts.
Now, we're not sure how you fix a house that was bent but not broken but, better bent than blown over on its side or iron snapped like a twig.
Fallen arches on Marine Parade or Sandlighter's Promenade turned into Sandlighter's swimming pool.
No idea how this hose ended up could up in this sidewalks turned pool but video taken during the storm shows how swallowed by the sea this area near Moe's Pizza was and while it was only a category 1 storm with a storm surge of 3 to 4 feet pushed by churning seas that claimed the street.
And winds so hard they could only be watched from the safety of a window.
It's a tired old cliche, but, as this morning's rainbow suggests, there's hope on the horizon.
