Yesterday the Chamber of Commerce burned fire on Government's rush to implement the new 9% sales tax regime. Today the Belize Business Bureau had its say also lambasting the almost overnight hike in the sales tax. But Belmopan is unmoved saying that it's only a 1% increase.
But President of the Chamber of Commerce Mark Lizarraga differs sharply; he says the implementation was done without consultation and will certainly affect the way chamber's members do business.
Lizarraga says he had written to the Prime Minister on Friday asking to delay implementation until 30 days after the new tax measures were in place.
