It seems not even the regional governing body of football can help as CONCACAF led negotiations between the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) and the Belize Premier Football League (BPFL) collapsed today. This latest failed attempt at reconciliation is notable because it was chaired by the Secretary General of CONCACAF Chuck Blazer.

This afternoon the BPFL fired off a releasing saying the talks were non-Productive. The league alleges that Blazer was trying to get it to re-join the FFB in solidarity against the National Sports Council, which banned FFB last month. It's a strong allegation and today for the first time since its suspension, the FFB executive went on the record. It wasn't the embattled FFB President Doctor Bertie Chimilio but his 3rd vice president Bernaldino Pech.

Pech told Keith Swift the FFB was only trying to make things right.

Blazer will be in Belize until Thursday. And now that the talks have dropped through, we are told that the rest of blazer's trip will be spent as a tourist. The FFB meanwhile says that since the suspension, recruiting for the 2006 World Cup trials have stopped and all tournaments have also ceased.
