Earlier this year government announced that child support payments will be collected at the Treasury Department and not at the Family Court. Money managers said it was being done in the name of efficiency and better management.
That was in January and ever since we have gotten numerous complaints from distressed and frustrated mothers who have not been able to collect their payments because of the change. Today one such mother came to our studios pleading for help.
Bernadine Young has two young boys, she is unemployed, and her only source of income is the child support from the children's fathers. This mother says she is tired of the runaround and wants the Family Court and the Treasury Department to just please "Show her the money."
No one from the Treasury Department or Family Court would take our calls as they were all in meetings.
