A 14-year-old boy claims he was almost raped while in custody at the Queen Street Police Station over the weekend. The shocking allegation was made by the minor who was detained for a gun theft in Hattieville late last week. He was first in Hattieville and transferred to Belize City on Friday at the Queen Street Police Station. There he was detained in the "holding cell" with adults and it is in there the minor alleges he was almost raped.

To protect his privacy since he is a minor, we will call him "Kareem" and blur his face. Today 14-year-old "Kareem" told Keith Swift his ordeal.

"Kareem" was accompanied to 7NEWS by his aunt. As we noted, "Kareem" is no saint and has had numerous and varied run-ins with Hattieville Police. He is facing a number of charges including theft, possession of a prohibited firearm, handling stolen goods, and damage to property. All charges are for that gun he is alleged to have stolen - when police say they found him in the house he was burglarizing.
