But judging by the latest year-end tourism statistics, it may not be the best time to be waiting on big money from the head tax. The Tourism Board reports that the official cruise figures for 2006 show a 20% decline in arrivals amounting to 655,000 cruise visitors in the year passed.

And while cruise arrivals are down, the BTB says overnight arrivals are up by 4.5% for 2006. 61% of those visitors were from the USA. Canada showed a strong surge, as arrivals from that country increased by 14.5%.
