He was an international man of mystery - Hassan El Sayed absconded before he could face charges in the immigration scandal of 2002 and tonight, his relatives in Belize report that he is dead.

Today relatives told us that the 55-year-old El Sayed was killed in a traffic accident on Friday in Lebanon. They say that on Friday evening he was trying assist the victims of an accident, when another car barreled unto the accident scene, causing the vehicle to flip, and land on him.

Those relatives say it was a tragic end for the father of five. But it appears El Sayed had been unlucky on the road, as he claimed to have been in an accident in 2005 in Lebanon when he missed some court dates, and eventually appeared in court with his hand in a cast. After that, he left again for Lebanon in 2005, and never re-appeared to be tried for over 100 charges of forgery in relation to suspect passport applications.

The man charged along with him, Gabby Affif was later acquitted on those charges. El Sayed was also wanted for questioning in relation to $1.4 million that BTL CEO Gaspar Aguilar said he gave him to change into U.S. but never got back either Belize or U.S. dollars.

His relatives say that by Muslim tradition, El-Sayed was buried within 24 hours.
