17 Days to Strike at BTL

17 days - that's how many days of notice BTL's Communication Workers Union has left to serve before it strikes. Notice of industrial action was served on Friday, and today the union membership officially launched a go - slow and work to rule at the country's most profitable company.

And the Communication Workers say they are not alone. On Friday the National Trade Union Congress of Belize called an emergency meeting where the leadership of all the unions discussed the Universal Health Services issue, the water front workers, the Customs and the BTL matter. They are reportedly trying to develop a strategy to work in concert and bring all these matters to a head all at once.

Looks like shades of 2005, and we'll keep following it.
