A family of 8 including 6 children between the ages of 16 and 2 years old are homeless after their home fell down. Today we were visited by Mary Lobo who told us that on Friday the 26th, her house fell down and she's been living with her six children in a shack for 10 days. And while pride stopped her from going public earlier, it's become unbearable, and today she told us that she just really needs some help.
Alfonso Noble Reporting,
Mary Lobo says that on Friday the 26th of January she woke up in the wee hours of the morning to find her house like this. It had collapsed from under its stilts and everyone inside including her six children though it was just a joke.
Mary Lobo,
"It was about 2:30 coming on to morning and we just heard this big banging and my husband came and said the house dropped. So we started to laugh like clowns and when we came out, we learnt that the house did gone down fi true."
The family would soon have to stop smiling as the reality of being left homeless set in. Lobo says her husband had to set up this 12 by 14 shack for her and their 6 children to live in, and it's mighty uncomfortable.
Mary Lobo,
"My husband decided to knock up this little small thing. This is what all of us live right now."
Alfonso Noble,
How do you all of you fit in that house?
Mary Lobo,
"Well we just lay down on each other because we can't do better."
Shanequa August,
"We just feel sleep jammed up because the place is too small to let us sleep good and we sleep on the floor and at night it is cold so we need to get a mattress for the ground."
Alfonso Noble,
How long have you all been sleeping like that?
Shanequa August,
"From last week Friday."
It's a bad state that Shanequa August and her siblings who range in age from 16 to 2 years have to live under. They say all they are asking for is a bit of assistance to make things a little better for them.
Anyone wishing to assist the family can get in touch with them at telephone numbers 621-2353 or 602-1052.
