Today the BTB and the University of Belize joined forces and signed an agreement to update the National Sustainable Tourism Master Plan. The impact that COVID had on the tourism industry has forced stakeholders to become more competitive so the updating of this plan is expected to highlight the gaps that Belize currently has in its tourism development strategy as well as align Belize to new travel trends and market realities.

UB is instrumental in this because their in-house team of local technical experts, along with a small team from the University of Melbourne in Australia, will be spearheading this process. And today the minister emphasized the confidence they've placed in the national university.

The consultancy will be executed over a 10 month period and will invest heavily on spatial planning and industry-wide consultations with public, private and civil sector partners.
