Another teenaged minor has been murdered - he's the second minor to be killed this year.

17-year-old Joshua Pou was barely a year out of the hostel when he became the target of a fatal shooting.

But it seems that this boy couldn't catch a break, not with the legal system and not with his family.

He'd ended up drifting into the Antelope Street extension area where he'd found friends with whom he often shared a roof and a meal. But if that was a little bit of luck coming his way it ran out this morning when he sustained 7 bullet wounds at the hands of an as yet, unknown assailant. Our News team was on the scene this morning and that's where Cherisse Halsall picks up the story.

Hercilett Moody Street in the Antelope street Ext area became a crime scene this morning after the broad daylight murder of 18-year-old Joshua Pou.

Pou was found motionless on the street. A saw him moments, before, and then heard the sound of gunshots and dashed home.

Police had to once again report to a hotspot and Communication Officer ASP Yearwood gave us these preliminary comments and on the scene:

ASP FitzRoy Yearwood

"We received information that shots rang out on this very street that we're standing on and when the shooting ceased he was lying behind that blue vehicle to our left, to my left, lifeless. We know that he was seen standing at the corner of the two streets. He had a conversation with one of the residents in this area and the resident is saying that by the time they got to their house they heard the shots. Being in fear they didn't turn around to see which direction that was coming from and unfortunately, Mr. Pou lost his life here this morning."

Yearwood says the killers knew who their target was and were determined to get him:

ASP FitzRoy Yearwood
"From the amount of wounds on that body I wouldn't see who else would have been a target. Like I said the residents did say that he would come around begging for food and so forth but he did not act in any violent way toward anyone in this area but we at the police department, we believe that we can get some type of information that would at least establish who would want to do something like this to him."

"The little that I have gathered so far from investigators is that he was recently charged for aggravated burglary and he was a resident at the youth hostel and recently turned 18. I asked investigators what he was doing in this neighborhood. Well they can't say what he was doing around here because what they know is that he's not originally from around here."

And without that information Pou's neighbor's were far too cautious to go on camera today but one of them told us that she was hoping to see him this morning when she got the news of his death.

Voice of Neighbor
"Our last conversation was yesterday evening right by that red vehicle over there. We were talking. He came and he hugged me and he said sis, he said you don't know you know, once anything I'm right around the lane you know and I told him yeah, yeah, yeah breds, yeah breds, and he said okay then later I will come and see you but I didn't get to see him any at all and up until this morning I still haven't seen him."

"I have known Joshua for over two years now. I got to know him through a friend of mine and since he's been coming back here well I can't say anything bad about him but otherwise, he is a friendly person. The other day he went to jail and he came out and said he came back here."

"I don't know him as someone who problems anybody back here because he is not from back here he just came since his family doesn't want him that's when he came back here so I don't know what is the reason or why they would want to kill him any at all."

"But since he's been hanging back here he comes every day and sleeps at my house. He comes every day, he cooks, we eat big. That's the thing with him he loved to eat. As you miss Joshua he's asking about food, food, food, just food he talked about, and like this morning I heard that the last thing he asked for was food too from one of our neighbors from off of the bridge he asked for food, but he never did end up getting the food."

And while he is fondly remembered this teen was marked for death in what is a very hot neighborhood.

Police say they will find the shooter:

ASP FitzRoy Yearwood
"I have been out here with the investigators for a little while canvassing the area trying to see if we can pick up any information. But I can tell you, we will not give up on it, we will remain in this area for a while and we will try to establish motive and probably try to see who his assailant was."

We note that Police say he is 18, but his aunt tells us he was born in September of 2004.
