If you've been following the local news closely over the last few months, you'll know all about the bitter infighting that had been taking place inside the Saint Francis Xavier Credit Union in Corozal.

It's one of the biggest credit unions in the country, but for some time now, there has been strife building between the elected Board of Directors and the upper management of the institution. The disputes reached a climax when the general manager, Rafael Dominguez Sr., was removed from office by the previous Board. That caused two distinct factions to form: one in support of the Board's decision and another which insisted that Dominguez's removal was illegal and without merit.

You'll remember how Dominguez came forward in a press conference last month in which he insisted that at the next Annual General Meeting, he would be able to convince the general membership to reinstate him to the office. After much back and forth, the credit union held its 41st Annual General Meeting yesterday at the Corozal Community College. During that AGM, a special resolution was tabled to the general membership to consider returning Dominguez to office. Through a show of hands, the attendees unanimously voted for his reinstatement.

His team of candidates for the posts of Credit Union's Board of Directors, the Credit Committee, and the Supervisory Committee was also elected by a majority of votes from the members who attended.
