And while police are investigating those two most recent murders, they've made two arrests in the Father's day murder of 49 year old Benjamin Hyde Sr. We told you about the first arrest on Friday, when 23-year-old Shemaud Nunez was charged with conspiracy to commit murder. And while the actual gunman has yet to be charged, police also arrested 18-year-old Azzane Domingo for conspiracy to commit murder.
But even though the police are making progress with this case, the family of Benjamin Hyde Sr say that they're being terrorized by the cops. Hyde's son, Christopher Hyde, told us today that officers frequent his family yard on the daily, allegedly physically assaulting them while also threatening his life.
And while Christopher Hyde has tried to stay away from making a complaint on the media, the final straw was when his girlfriend was reportedly handcuffed and pepper sprayed on Sunday. She chose to remain anonymous but told us what happened yesterday after the cops came to the yard.
Voice of: Girlfriend of Christopher Hyde, Claims Police Harassment
"The female officer, she dragged me up and I told her that she didn't need to deal with me like that and we had a little misunderstanding and the police man gave she a handcuff and told her to bangles me up and she put my hand behind my back and handcuff me. From there, she didn't ask me for a search, I was just standing in the corner, already handcuffed and she started to drag up and pull up my clothes. From there, we left from here, we went to station, they put me in the police vehicle. They wanted to put me in the back of the police station but I made them know I'm not going to police station in the back of a police vehicle because in all honesty, I didn't do anything wrong. So when we are going around the lane, the policeman asked for a pepper spray. First thing he did was pepper spray me in my face, but most of it went up my nose, I couldn't catch my breath, I just started blow out everything. and I told him that he's a *OBSCENITY*. He pepper sprayed me again but the second time he pepper sprayed me, I turned my face towards the female W and from she got pepper sprayed. When we almost reached station, he told me about how he will shoot my boyfriend in his head and make him go where his dad is."
She also mentioned that the officers gave her three charges, one of which was for threatening a police officer, which she maintains she didn't.
And now Christopher Hyde is at his wit's end. He explained that he's been trying to reach the Commissioner of Police to tell him that they don't want to retaliate for the murder of his father. In fact, they just want to mourn in peace. But the police are making that hard to do. Here's how he put it:
Voice of: Christopher Hyde, Claims Police Harassment
"It's rough, it's hard because the men come ten times everyday. Everyday, they come ten times and they come aggressive for no kind of reason, and I'm already tired of it. We don't want any kind of retaliation, if we wanted to do that, we would do that a long time ago. You know how much people could have gotten hurt and dead. I love my dad too, I love my dad badly, and I don't want any kind of retaliation, I just want Mr Williams tell those guys to ease up. Please, man, just ease up, because it's him sending them. Because every time they come, they say Chester Williams send them. And I'm tired of it because when I call this man, he never answers me. He doesn't want to talk to me, he doesn't want anything with me, so I just want him to tell those guys to back up before they get me the next way, please. And everyday they threaten me, they will kill me, they will kill me, they will kill me. Everyday and one day, it will happen one day. It will happen. i'm tired of it. Like what I'm saying, those guys from George Street live right behind we. They already killed my dad, I'm alright with that. I'm mourning and groaning, I just want mourn and groan and bury my dad in peace."
Courtney Menzies:
"And when police come here, besides threatening you, what else do they do to you guys? Do they physically...?"
Voice of: Christopher Hyde
"They physically, yes, miss lady, they come and bend up our land, they put up our hand, they stretch out our foot and all kind of thing. And we're the ones grieving. It's my dad they killed, my dad."
