Earlier in the month, Minister of Education Francis Fonseca told our newsroom that Belize's primary school students hadn't done well in the Belize Diagnostic Assessment test with results showing that they'd fallen behind particularly in the vital areas of Math, Science, and English.
And to combat that worrying trend the Ministry is launching an Education summer camp called Let's Catch up.
We got an introduction to it this morning from C.E.O Dian Maheia when she told our Sunup hosts that 30 minutes a day of numeracy and literacy is just the ticket to get kids caught up before the new school year starts in September.
As you heard the lessons will be provided via in person sessions at designated learning centers, online via Youtube, and on your local radio stations.
Sessions will run for 8 weeks starting June 27 to August 19, 2022, Mondays to Thursdays.
Students must be eligible for registration between the ages of 5 to 9.
The registration form can be accessed at The Ministry of Education's website.
