On Saturday night police got information that a suspected drug plane out of Venezuela was heading towards this region. But, they couldn't respond effectively - and by the time they found it on Sunday in the area of Sandalwood in the Toledo District - the plane had been emptied of its contents and burnt.
The Beechcraft King Air 90 has a carrying capacity of 1 tonne. It appears to have landed in a cleared strip of land in the forest.
Today, police couldn't tell us anything about it, and the commissioner would only confirm that the plane did land, but, concerning an interview, he said, quote, "due to security reasons for our troops in the area I am unable to facilitate your request at this time."
