Last week, news headlines were abuzz with a phishing scam that has taken thousands of dollars out of the accounts of Heritage Bank users. We also showed you how one businessman, Lascelle Arnold, pulled his money out of the bank and closed his account out of fear of losing his money too.

And yesterday, Arnold called into LoveFM's "The Morning Show" and alleged that it was the employees of Heritage Bank that were perpetuating the phishing scam. He added that this information was confirmed, quote, "by the police."

Well today, Heritage Bank issued a statement denouncing these allegations and referred to them as being untrue and defamatory. The release says, quote, "the Bank informs the general public that as far as we are aware, official investigations with respect to the phishing scam are ongoing, but no perpetrator(s) has yet been identified. The Bank is weighing its legal options as the Bank is of the view that the unfounded allegations of the caller could tarnish the reputation of the Bank and its hard working employees." End quote.

The statement adds by saying that Heritage also takes issue with the comments made by the hosts of the Morning Show which they believe could, quote, "further exacerbate our reputational damage." End quote.
