The updated annual Gross Domestic Product figures for 2022 were released today - and it is significantly down from the original, projected figure.
That was an impressive 12.1% - but the final, revised figure is 8.7% - still strong but not world-beating.
It was released by the Statistical Institute of Belize today a their quarterly press conference - along with growth figures for the second quarter - which are also on the low side:

"The goods and services produced during the year 2022, we have an estimate of $5.016 billion. This is an increase of $402.9 million or 8.7% when compared to the year of 2021. April to June of 2023, we observed a 2.6% increase during the second quarter, which is an increase of $33.8 million, bringing the total for the quarter at $1.31 billion."

"Looking at the trend line for the second quarters from 2018 to 2023, we observed the percentage increase, 2.6%, the $1.3 billion."
