And while those Caye Caulker residents want to get rid of the crocs, over in San Pedro, the owners of a mega hotel were trying to get rid of a local craftswoman.

We told you yesterday that Bernice Ramirez sells her work by the beachside near Ruby's Hotel, but the hotel's expansion has been pushing her out of the space she has occupied for years.

But the hotel's expansion was stopped by the Town Council yesterday since it was unclear whether they had the proper permissions to build on the beach. And today, we asked the Minister of Natural Resources about it. He didn't know much:

Cordel Hyde, Minister of Natural Resources

"Not that I know of we would have to check. Not that I know of we would have to check our people, we have not gotten a formal complaint. I have not really heard anything but we would have to check. They can't be doing that just like that something is amiss there so we would have to check."

Jo-
"But for them to construct on a beach, they would have to require a permit from the ministry of natural resources?"

Cordel Hyde, Minister of Natural Resources
"I don't know that we have given any permit to construct on a beach. I mean that's a public area that should be accessible to the public. Construction on the beach, that has to be most of the times one that's allowed that's for a public purpose like the town Council wants to do that or some other public body wants to do that for public benefits, but I can't speak to that particular case, because I don't know what the details."
