Are CEO's getting an early Christmas gift courtesy of the Cabinet?

7news has obtained a letter dated November 14th, addressed to the Cabinet secretary from the financial secretary Joseph Waight. It details an approval for an increase in telephone allowances for CEO's to take effect on the renewal of contracts.

Waight states in his letter "I write to confirm that approval has been granted for an increase in telephone allowance from $250 to $600 per month for all Chief Executive Officers, the Cabinet Secretary, the financial secretary and the solicitor general to take effect from the respective dates of their soon to be renewed contracts."

We note that 600 per month for a phone allowance is quite a bit and ought to leave the CEO's with some good spare change - since the most expensive phone plan you can buy with unlimited everything works out to about $250.00 per month.

That leaves them with "fiscal space" for an extra phone and a whole lot more.
