And, finally tonight, one more item from the north…..the three growers groups who have a commercial agreement with ASR BSI have words for the BSCFA tonight.
They issued a release which says The PSCPA, CSCPA and NSCGA have a valid commercial agreement with the sugar cane miller since 2021 and were ready to start delivering cane since December 15, 2023. Following deliberations on crop start with the BSCFA, stakeholders agreed to initiate the Sugar Cane Crop season on December 28, 2023. Members of all three of our associations have been delivering their produce to the mill and providing jobs to cane cutters. We strongly condemn the actions of BSCFA to block the Philip Goldson highway at Buena Vista, which prevents our farmers from their constitutional right to deliver their produce to the mill.
We call on the government and relevant authorities to ensure that our associations are guaranteed safe unimpeded passage to the mill. We recognize the importance of the industry to our farmers, the north and the nation. We have acted responsibly within the laws, to ensure that we contribute to the nation's economic stability and continued development.
