Mahler also discussed the tourism numbers for overnight arrivals which were looking up in July after a disappointing May and June:
Jules Vasquez:
"I know that the airlines, the big ones, all of them really, have been down 8-9% so far up to the end of June. Right? All of them were down. Have they been complaining and have you been having to offer them some comfort?"
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism & Diaspora Relations
"Most have, in terms of our traffic to Belize, we've held our numbers"
"May and June were a little bit soft. July, we rebounded robustly with almost 10% increase over last year. Last year was a very strong July as well."
"We believe that we will continue with our momentum going into the high season coming up."
