And speaking of investments - Mahler and the BTB made a big one at the MCC Grounds when it sponsored a new concrete fence to replace the old one that was taken down by Hurricane Lisa in 2022. But while the fence has been painted brilliant white - and another internal fence has been built, the football field is as dry as sawdust, and the grass is dead. So, right now, it's all fence, and no field. We asked about that quite costly fence:
Jules Vasquez:
"However a la the UDP and Herman Longsworth, It seems like the fence has become an end in itself because there's an exterior fence. There's now an interior fence. But if you look at the state of the field at MCC...."

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"So just a few minutes ago, I told you I got out of a meeting in terms of looking at a masterplan for. MCC and Rogers Stadium and, we will, do the feel over, as priority. We're going to break down the whole building that is there and put up some new facilities. But, you know, these things take time and money., soh "
Jules Vasquez:
"But are you able to to speak about the price of the fences at the MCC?"
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"I think by the time we're finished, both of them would cost somewhere around 400 or half a million dollars. Both of them. And the demolition of all the bleachers, everything out there."
Jules Vasquez:
"that sounds a lot like Herman Longsworth when he built the elaborate fence around this facility?"
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"No. So what would you have wanted us to do? Left the fence broken up?"
Jules Vasquez:
"No, not at all."
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"So what are you asking?"
Jules Vasquez:
"Was. Is the fence competitively priced?"
Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"Yes, I believe so."
