And from swimming to flying....A new ultra discount air carrier has signed on to make Belize one of its destinations.
That's Spirit Airlines and it will fly out of Fort Lauderdale Florida to Belize with promotional prices starting at just $85 USD for a one way ticket from Fort Lauderdale to Belize.
Minister of Tourism Anthony Mahler says it allows for travellers to have more options.

"So we've taken some body blows, but we have been consistent from day one in terms of shoring up airlift into the country. this comes on the heels of an announcement a few weeks ago where we introduced a new flight with Air Canada from Montreal, and that would open up same day connections to Europe as well. So that has been a lot of our focus in terms of not only in the marketing campaigns, but also building airlift into the country."
Jules- Explain to me the importance of Fort Lauderdale and Spirit as a discount carrier, and I discount hub
"Yeah it's an ultra low cost carrier. And it is important because you had pretty much a monopoly with American going into Miami and the prices were often high because they would focus on yields, like most airlines. And so this will keep them a bit honest and give, traveler's, an option at least."
The flight will fly 3 times weekly.
