And a lot of that discipline will have to be directed at a reformed Marion Jones Stadium. It's the premier outdoor sporting facility in Belize - but its vision was never properly realized due to years of mis-spending and graft.
But Mahler says he has a very big plan for it. We asked if he can start small with the mess of a football field in the heart of the facility:

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Youth Sports
"We're creating a master plan right now for Marion Jones. I just got out of a meeting a little while ago to look at some concepts for MCC and for Rogers Stadium. And then I have some meetings over the weekend to look at People's Stadium on some, of the other facilities. But the facilities are important to ensure that those leads can be, competing and practicing in a safe environment. And, right here we want to create the Marion Jones complex into a sporting hub that we're working with the Tennis Association to build two new tennis courts out here. We will do over the track. We will put some other facilities in here whereby athletes can come, improve the gym, have more people working in terms of strength training, and rehabilitating whenever they get injured. So we have discussed all of these things. We know what it takes to get these things on is just, obviously money is scarce and we, we, we're putting in place the measures for us to be able to do these things one step at a time. We're looking at it. We're, we have some experts that have come in and looked at it, and, they believe that, a synthetic pitch would be better out there rather than, grass and natural grass. You wah bet? Something will happen. But it will be a phased approach. Like I said, this is going to be a sporting hub. So we're even looking at another softball field out here to see how it can fit. We're looking at, rock climbing. We're looking at, pickle, pickle ball or whatever it is. So it's going to be a, a facility whereby, people who want to be, semiprofessional, or professionals or the common man or woman could come in and, and access the facilities, but it can't be free for all when we make the necessary investments."
