BBA Says Fare Increase Is GOB's \"Deliberate Decision To Pass Burden Onto Consumers\

And this evening, the Belize Bus Association sent out a release saying, quote, "Before taking this step, the BBA formally requested the removal of GST on fuel, tires, and parts, or a targeted subsidy similar to that provided during COVID-19. Both requests were rejected. The Government made a deliberate decision to not absorb rising costs and instead pass the full burden onto commuters."

They added, quote, "The reality is that BBA continues to provide the majority of national transport services, has maintained lower fares for years compared to NBC's higher rates, and took every reasonable step to protect commuters before any adjustment was made."
