Reports of aggressive missionaries harassing schoolchildren sparked outrage across Western Belize yesterday. From Belmopan to Benque Viejo, parents described groups cornering students to badger them about their faith. Incidents ranged from children being asked for phone numbers and handed QR codes to one Benque parent reporting his son was told he would reach heaven "regardless of his sins."

Today, the Ministry of Education condemned the individuals for "posing sensitive questions under the guise of surveys." In response, the Ministry is increasing school warden patrols and coordinating with police, urging parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
