We also asked the Prime Minister about increasing electricity bills. Many consumers report that their light bills have soared. The PM put on his engineering hat and said the culprit is increased usage not billing:
John Briceno, Prime Minister
"Well I had discussed that with the former CEO Mr.Mencias, what happens is when it is hot people use more electricity you know people would put on the fan for longer periods or the refridge they open every minute or if they have on AC they make it work longer so obviously apart from that there was a slight increase in rates you use more when it's very hot. When it's not hot you don't need to use your AC, you don't have to put on the fan, you're not drinking cold water every minute so there's more usage another good example was I remember when BWS had upgraded its pumping system and the waterflows and so within the city, all of a sudden people water bill went up but it went up because first because it doesn't have enough pressure when you open it you know it didn't come out with pressure now when you open it it comes out with pressure so more water comes out so you end top using more water so basically that's it there'e no nefarious plan that BEL have somehow with a magic wand managed to increase the all in the meters to go to be able to charge you more it's simply because it's hotter and people use more electricity."
