The prosecution in the quadruple murder trial of Leslie Pipersburgh and Patrick Robateau remain confident that they will be able to wrap up their case by Friday.

The trial resumed this afternoon with police firearm expert Albert Ciego returning to the stand. The prosecution has about 6 more witnesses to go and prosecutor Majorie Moyston told 7NEWS she hopes to close her case by the end of this week.

As to that new evidence the defense talked about yesterday, Defense Counsel Linsbert Willis told us to wait and see. Willis had previously stated his clients would not take the stand in their defense.

Our coverage of the trial continues tomorrow.
