They may have someday sold in at a store near you for "19.95" - but a shipment of Levi's, Dockers and Tommy Hilfiger clothing will never make it to the shelves.
More than a half million dollars in U.S. designer knock-offs of t-shirts, jeans, and perfumes are impounded after U.S. embassy officials along with an investigator representing Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger, and Dockers inspected the container one week ago. There were 407 boxes and 226 of them were cheap knockoffs of the real things. The shipment, valued at 6 hundred thousand, was seized and it will be donated to a local charitable organization once the fake logos are removed.
7NEWS understands they also found Adidas, Nike, Nautica, and Ralph Lauren merchandise believed to be counterfeit.
U.S. authorities received a tip on the container from its point of origin in the far eastern United States and tracked it as it passed through Curacao and Jamaica. It was destined for a local merchant house known as Shalamar. We were unable to reach the owner of Shalamar for comment.
