He's had every known honor heaped upon him and retired from electoral politics a winner - but former Prime Minister George Price just does not rest.
The national hero today started what will be a countrywide book tour to celebrate the release of two price biographies. His first stop was in Orange Walk Town at the People's Stadium before an audience of 1,800 school children representing 28 District Primary Schools.
After profuse praising by Deputy Prime Minister John Briceno and Education Minister Francis Fonseca, in his trademark style, Price said the credit is not his.
George Price,
"These two books have to do with you. They pay a tribute that's long due to the many people who joined in the peaceful, constructive, Belizean revolution. You heard about that? That's the revolution that woke up the people and they got independence. It's a tribute to them, to those members and supporters of the PUP and many of them were your parents, neighbors, and your friends. So it is a tribute to all of them and with their effort, their work, we made Belize an independent country.
And with a captive audience of school children, Price didn't miss the opportunity to give a spirited lesson in civics. The man who put "nation" in nationalism taught the children that the national anthem is not to be sung like a drunken barroom song.
Price leads children in upbeat version of anthem saying the anthem is march of revolution.
After the event price had signed books for each school. The tour is scheduled to make its next stop in Dangriga - but no date has yet been set.
