Police are investigating a case of murder in the Stann Creek district. At around 6:30 this morning, police responded to a call that the lifeless body of a man was found on the side of the Southern Highway. The body of Guatemalan national of San Isidro Village Miguel Antonio Gregorio was found beside his bicycle with chop wounds to the neck and face. Police are asking anyone with information to call the 922-crime stoppers number.

And speaking of 922 the crime stoppers organization is asking members of the public not to use the hotline for personal calls. As we've reported, the calls are now processed through an operator in Miami who cannot connect callers to the police station in Belize. In the past three days since the Miami connect was activated, about 250 calls have been made to the hotline, and only 4 of them have been tips. Apparently the practice of using the 922 hotline for personal calls was institutionalized because it was the only personal friends of police could make a toll free telephone hookup.
