On your average Friday night, you won't find most 17 year olds in church but that's where 17 year old Oscar Gamez was right before he got stabbed.
That's right, just as he was about to leave the church grounds in Unitedville Village at around 9:30; he was attacked by another young man who used to be a part of his congregation.

“I went to sit down in the back of the vehicle, a pickup, and in front of me was my 4 year old little sister. She sat between my two legs and me and her were playing. And then I noticed this boy, a little short stumpy one, he came after me and he asked me if I had a problem with him because my brother is always talking in a rude way to him. So when I went there I immediately told him that in the first place I don’t have any brother and so you came after the wrong one. He slapped me in my face and I got mad and I got up. But he had a big bat so he flung the bat after me and my intention was to cover my sister that was in front of me or he would have hit my little sister on her forehead. So I covered her and he hit me on shoulder. And when I got up back he went to punch me and I fired a punch after him back. And then he just came into me and buck into me. And I think that’s when he stabbed me because I didn’t actually feel until 5 minutes later I felt a big pain and I put my hand under my shirt and felt that I was full up of blood. Like I told you I don’t talk to him. I don’t even know him but because I go to the church I always see him and thing. I know him by face but I don’t know him to talk to as a friend.”
The injury Gamez received has left him with a tube attached to his side to drain blood out of the injured left side of his rib cage. He is expected to recover fully.
