And while union foment has been at a fever pitch all through the day the criminal element in the city has not been quiet. There were three shootings reported in Belize City today and as a result of it two young men are in a critical condition at the KHMH.

We begin with 25 year old Marlon Fisher, who was shot at around 11 this morning. Police say that Fisher was at a residence at the corner or Prince and West Streets when he was shot one in the chest. Tonight doctors are giving him a 50/50 chance of survival. His mother told Alfonso Noble that after coming out of prison a few weeks ago, her son was tying to walk the straight and narrow.

Mother,
"This morning he left home saying he was going to purchase something at the shop and he did not come back, all we got was a phone call saying he was shot and he is critical."

Alfonso Noble,
Did you expect this? He is home to a shop and come back, that's it.

Mother,
"Well we didn't because I mean being what is happening on the streets, we caution him and we talk to him to be careful. Its better he stays at home because he doesn't have to go out there but maybe that's life."

Alfonso Noble,
Do you know who may have done this to him?

Mother,
"No idea, none."

Alfonso Noble,
Did he have any run-ins with the law before? Any trouble with anybody, that kind of thing?

Mother,
"Yes he did, he did and as I speaking to the Father Stocles who said he was counseling him and guiding him and he was doing very good in his classes. He was going to More Tomorrow Village to stay there with his father and we talked to him and he said he was going, but what was his intention we don't know."

Alfonso Noble,
So he was determined to move away from here?

Mother,
"Yes he was. His condition is very critical, very very critical. Doctors say they give him 72 hours, it's a 50/50 chance at this moment."

Fisher had been in prison for three years on a murder charge, but the case recently fell apart and he was released. Police say Fisher was able to tell investigators who shot him.
